NCL is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It was established in 1998 for the benefit of the community, with the aim of offering excellent sports and leisure for all. NCL works extremely closely with Northumberland County Council, Copeland Borough Council and Eden District Council and is an accredited training provider of sport and leisure courses. Training Courses that NCL currently offer include Pool Lifeguarding, First Aid and Food Hygiene.
Speaking on the move to HABC for Pool Lifeguarding, Shirley Brown (Training Manager) at NCL offered the following comments:
“When we first heard that HABC was launching a Pool Lifeguarding qualification, we felt this would be a great opportunity to make significant cost savings by moving over to them. However, after going through a period of due diligence and reviewing all aspects of their qualification package, as well as hosting ‘conversion days’ for our trainers, we’ve realised there are numerous benefits of moving across. Not only is the qualification the most cost-effective on the market, but the supporting training materials are of the high quality we’ve come to expect from Highfield, certification time is extremely quick and we feel we’re being listened to by our HABC Account Manager. As the Training Manager, having a dedicated account manager, to whom we direct all queries, makes communication friendly, straightforward and simple, and the HABC response time to queries and certification is very impressive. We have now converted all of our trainers to be HABC Pool Lifeguard tutors and are transferring all of our 190 lifeguards over to the HABC Award as they become due to re-qualify. I’m pleased to say that all new lifeguards will now be trained the ‘HABC way’. ”
With our market share continuing to grow as a result of organisations such as NCL joining us, we aim to become the leading awarding organisation for Pool Lifeguarding qualifications in 2013.
